SONG OF THE SEASON

Just in time for the weekend, this CLUB BANGER easily gets me on my feet and feeling ecstatic in no time. Released last month by Grammy Award-winning DJ/Producer/Engineer CID, this song epitomizes a striking duality between passion and pain, energy and powerlessness. The opening lyric “If love is blind, I don’t wanna see” foretells sentiments and sacrifices made in the name of love. Many of us have experienced a time when we chose to “lose sight of everything” in a fight for something that isn’t in our best interest. It’s painful to rather be blinded by love, to “close [my] eyes to everything,” than to open one’s eyes.

At first, singer GLENNA’s voice takes you on an airy, magic carpet ride to Cloud Nine. Her vocals are emotionally packed, despite the fact that they’re distorted to sound like the baritone voice of a man. It works though. Then you feel the immense bass-drop back down to Earth and start bouncing ardently to it. The use of horns perfectly complements the alternation between groovy flows and bass-heavy beats. “Love is blind” is very reminiscent of Goldtrix & Andrea Brown’s “It’s Love (Trippin)” in content and context. The experience of blindly creating illusions and loving it is effectively conveyed and understood. “LOVE IS BLIND” IS SIMULTANEOUSLY HEART WRENCHING AND HEART PUMPING.

“LOVE IS BLIND” LYRICS

If love is blind, I don’t wanna see

I close my eyes, and you are here with me

If love is blind, let me lose my sight

Lose sight of everything tonight

They say believe in what you see, but I believe in you and me, so I close my eyes to everything

They say believe in what you see,
but I believe in you and me,

tonight I close my eyes to everything everything everything everything

Tonight I’m going blind

Tonight I’m going blind

Tonight I’m going blind
